Monika Willi, the editor of Venice/Cannes/Oscar-winning films of Michael Glawogger & Michael Haneke, will discuss the nature of her work and her relation to these two masters of cinema, in a casual talk with Serbian documentary filmmaker Boris Mitic, who assisted Glawogger on the Balkan part of his last film – ‘Untitled’, scheduled for May 9, 18:00 at at Belgrade Youth Center, Beldocs IDFF.

What Virtual Reality can and cannot do for film
Virtual Reality promises new experiences, intense empathy and freedom to move in imagined worlds. While this new tool can deliver to many of its promises, others will be disappointed. This presentation will provide a brief overview about the state of the art in terms of technology and storytelling, but will also deliver some thoughts on the limitations of VR for film.

Emerging Producers is an industry flagship project of the Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival and the only one of its kind designed for documentary film producers in Europe. The main objective of the programme is to interconnect talented European producers with other film professionals, especially those working in documentary cinematography. The project should also provide the participants with an easy access to information in the field of audiovision, deeper and wider orientation in the film market but also help them to establish contacts with producers from other countries, and thus increase the potential of future European coproduction projects.

Master Class: Irene Langemann
Born in Issilkul, USSR, Irene Langemann majored in acting and German language and literature at Moscow’s Tcepkin Drama School in 1980. For the next ten years she worked as an actress, director and playwright in Moscow. In 1983 she became a presenter for Russian television. 1990 she emigrated to Germany and worked as commissioning editor for Deutsche Welle TV in Cologne until 1996. Since 1996 she is a freelancing filmmaker. Her documentary „Pavlenski – Man and Power“ is in Beldocs IDFF Official Selection, scheduled for May 13, 20:00 at Belgrade Youth Center .

Master Class: Andreas Horvath
Andreas Horvath was born in Salzburg, Austria in 1968. He studied photography in Vienna and multimedia-art in Salzburg. As a freelance photographer and filmmaker he publishes photo books and creates independent films. Horvath´s documentaries have received awards at international film festivals, such as the Chicago International Documentary Film Festival, the Karlovy Vary IFF or the Max Ophüls Prize Festival. As a photographer Andreas Horvath published black and white photo albums about Yakutia, Siberia and rural America. In 2013 Horvath received the Outstanding Artist Award from the Austrian Ministry of Art and Culture. His documentary “Helmut Berger, Actor” is in Biography Docs Programme at Beldocs IDFF 2017, scheduled for May 12, 16:00 at Belgrade Youth Center.
